Vapor Systems Technologies, Inc. and Gilbarco Veeder-Root Gain Approval In Texas for ORVR Compatibility Solution

Dayton, Ohio – USA – January 7, 2005 – Vapor Systems Technologies, Inc. (VST) and Gilbarco Veeder-Root have obtained approval by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for VST’s patented ENVIRO-LOC™ solution for Onboard Refueling Vapor Recovery (ORVR) system compatibility with the Gilbarco VaporVac® system. In February 2004, VST announced an exclusive licensing agreement with Gilbarco Veeder-Root to certify VST’s patented ORVR compatible system. This technological solution exceeds the Title 30 Texas Administrative Codes TAC 115.243(2) and TAC 115.24(a)(2) as applicable to existing or new gasoline dispensing facility installations. Texas legislation requires new site compatibility beginning April 2005 with existing site completion by April 2007.

In 1998, new vehicles in the U.S. began phasing in production of ORVR systems that have since been identified as operationally incompatible with existing Stage II vacuum assist systems. ORVR equipped vehicles continue to escalate in market penetration, thus exacerbating the issue of fugitive emissions caused by increased underground storage tank (UST) pressure associated with the systems incompatibilities. VST and Gilbarco have been diligently striving to enhance vapor recovery technologies that resolve these conflicts and exceed legislative requirements. The VST ENVIRO-LOC™ ORVR system not only solves this incompatibility issue, but reduces volatile organic chemical (VOC) emissions into the environment. According to Rodger Grantham, VP of Engineering for VST, “This technology converts an industry problem into a win-win situation. Not only is air quality improved, but also fuel savings far exceed the cost of the equipment.”

The VST/Gilbarco ORVR technology offers the most economically available ORVR compatible solution in the marketplace. This low-cost solution requires a vapor control module, marketed and supplied by Gilbarco Veeder-Root, and VST’s specifically designed ENVIRO-LOC™ ORVR vacuum assist hose, safety breakaway, and dripless nozzle system marketed exclusively by VST. All of VST’s hanging hardware mates with existing dispenser piping for easy field installation. The vapor control module will be available from Gilbarco as an original equipment installed unit or as retrofit kits for existing dispensers. Field retrofit kits easily interface with Gilbarco VaporVac® systems without replacement of the existing vapor pumps.

VST and Gilbarco manufacturing are ramping up production efforts for a 2nd Quarter 2005 product launch.
